Moving and positioning: general principles
Definition
‘To move’ is to ‘go in a specified direction or manner’ or ‘change position’ (Oxford Dictionaries [93]) and ‘to position’ is described as ‘a particular way in which someone or something is placed or arranged’ (Oxford Dictionaries [94]). In medical terms, ‘position’ relates to body position or posture. Moving and positioning lie within the broader context of manual handling.
