Post‐procedural considerations
Ongoing care
Reassessment by the medical team will be necessary in the event of an increase in pain or neurological symptoms.
Documentation
Any changes in neurological presentation and/or function must be documented both prior to and following any procedure.
Potential complications and problem solving
There are a number of potential long‐term complications that may occur during or after moving and positioning SCI patients; these may be due to the initial injury, the subsequent effects of changes in bowel and bladder functions, and the paralysis (i.e. the complete loss of motor function) associated with their disease or injury. In addition, bedrest contributes to long‐term complications.
