Complications
It is recommended that to prevent any tissue damage, the pulse oximeter sensor is not taped in place (unless recommended by the manufacturer) and that the sensor should be re‐sited routinely every 4 hours or more frequently if necessary, depending on the patient's condition and the manufacturer's recommendation. Assessment of tissue integrity before siting the probe is essential to avoid placement on existing damaged tissue (Adam et al. [2]).
