Definition
‘Self‐administration’ is when a person in a care setting can look after and take their own medicines (CQC [49]). The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS [315]) states that this preserves independence regardless of the social care environment and is an important feature of intermediate care because it prepares people to look after their own medicines when they return home.
