The urinary bladder is a muscular, expandable organ, hollow in nature, that is used as a storage and emptying structure for urine. It collects urine excreted by the kidneys, which enters the bladder from the ureters before disposal by urination, the urine exiting the body through the urethra (Marieb and Hoehn [96]) (Figure 20.11).
