Competencies
Pentamidine isetionate should be administered by trained healthcare professionals, operating within their scope of practice (NMC [86]). A suitable training package and assessment should be undertaken to determine the competence of the administrator. Nurses should be assessed by a competent practice facilitator prior to setting up the equipment, to develop their competence in the procedure.
