Claimants should let DWP know of any change in their needs as soon as possible because the change may affect their entitlement (DWP [71], [72], [73], [74], [75]).

Documentation

It is advisable for patients and claimants to keep copies of all the documentation that they have submitted as well as any reference numbers. They may need this to follow up their claim.

Education of patient and relevant others

Patients and their relevant others may need assistance in completing the application process for benefits and it is important that the nurse or benefits adviser explains clearly what steps have been taken, what the documentation means and answers any questions they may have.
