Definitions
- Laryngectomy: removal of the larynx and surrounding structures.
- Stoma: a hole in the neck through which the laryngectomy patient breathes.
- Surgical voice restoration (SVR): a means to restore communication using a silicone voice prosthesis.
- Tracheoesophageal puncture (TEP): a hole created between trachea and oesophagus to allow voice prosthesis placement.
